Unexpected links, urgent deadlines, gift cards, crypto, or login codes are warning signs. Open the official site yourself instead.
2. Verify the person
Call back using a number you find independently. Do not trust a number, QR code, or link in the unexpected message.
3. Protect your accounts
Use a different password for every account and turn on multi-factor authentication. Never share a one-time login code.
4. If you clicked or paid
Change the password, contact your bank or card company, report the incident, and tell coworkers or family quickly.
